chunks of broken plastic/cuttng board type material keeping the bolt from moving to full rearward position. can i replace this part by removing the back two screws in lower reciver assembly and lifting it up ? I have no exp with these actions, looks like lots of lil springs everywhere. any input would be appreciated.

There are some great videos on you tube. This is a common problem and fairly easy to fix. I think I ordered mine from brownells and it arrived really fast. I belive some are screwed....mine I had to drive out a pin. It's simple......I think they dry out over time? Or breakdown from oil or cleaning products?

Recoil buffers in the model 60 are made of nylon, they just get fragile over time/use. If you have to take the action apart to replace yours, do so on a flat, clean surface. It's way easy to lose the tiny circlips holding the side plate on. It's also advisable to stick a pin through the hole in the hammer strut (with the hammer cocked) to avoid having the hammer strut spring come flying out, and they can be a real pig to get back on.

You should not have

to take any of the action assembly apart to get at the buffer. If you remove the assembly by taking out the pin/screws at each end of the assembly you should be able to remove the buffer itself without having to bother the other parts of the action.

moewadle - nope, you do have to take the side plate off. Look at the Utube video.
