Marlin Model 60, Tech Sights V.S. 3x9 scope

I have had my Marlin 60 for well over a year now. I love it! I have shot it with factory iron sights (not great, but they work. I can shoot MOS- Minute Of Squirrel - at 50 yards anyway), and with a 3-9x32 scope on it (much tighter groups - MOA at 50 yards). I put a Williams peep sight on my 1917 30-06 and haven't been able to miss anything I point that rifle at since then, so since I am getting better with the irons and just want to be a better rifleman, I ordered the TS sights today for my M60, and will be removing the scope. More importantly, I plan to continue teaching my 9 yr old daughter to shoot with it too. She has some trouble with the buck-horn sights and I think the TS sights will give her a better concept of sight picture and POA. The Williams peep sure did that for me on the 30-06.

I have "over 40" eyes too, but I find that I am still able to do pretty well with the irons as long as I limit the distance as others have mentioned above. I also ordered a Spee- D loader from MidwayUSA for it too.

Good luck with your new rifle.

Mike!
