How many of you .Have something built around a .310 Martini action? I have a hornet & a .310 (BSA) which I was going to convert but my 11yr old Stepson has claimed it as his own :what: To make matters worse he out shoots me with it :banghead: :cuss: :fire:

BSA Martini Cadet

Hello. I have two BSA Cadets. The first had been rechambered to 32-20. It shot terribly until I had a custom mold made to accomodate the wider bore diameter. Now it shoots beautifully. I removed the stock and made a stock using figured walnut. This also came out beautifully. I removed the primitive open sight and replaced it with one of the types of tang peep sight designed for BSA Martinis. For the front sight I put on a Parker Hale globe sight. It is an excellent offhand shooter.

The second one is still in .310. The stock was butchered so I replaced it with the stock from the other BSA. It has the better open rear sight that is adjustable for both windage and elevation and is in great shape. I have had mixed results shooting it. The .310 bullet must be seated out ahead of the case or I get severe leading. The custom bullet used in the firat rifle shoots well too. But it has to be seated forward of the case because it's diameter is too large to seat in the case and still chamber the round. I plan new experiments to solve the leading problem without having to seat the bullet forward.

In Auto Shop in 1961 the shop teacher and I turned a .310 Cadet into a .218 Bee. We swapped out the barrel and bushed the firing pin, drilled and tapped the side of the receiver and mounted a Weaver K-4 scope. We did this after school. Out of the .310 barrel, we made a small cap and ball pistol with the side plate cast from a cap gun. It was a fun project but I doubt that it could be done at Cupertino High School in California today.

I just wish I still had the rifle.
