Maybe I'm not as smart as Maryland politicians, but wouldnt this already be coverered by a bunch of laws already? i.e.-assault, assault and battery, attempted murder, murder, etc? Seriously, how many freakin' laws do we need to cover the same stuff over, and over, and over, just to give people a slap on the wrist and turn them loose anyway? Maybe its just me though......

Oh, so let's just go ca-ca all over the fifth amendment, since that seems to be the trend these days. I'm not even sure that I agree that DNA entries are a good idea UPON conviction, but at least then it would be consistent with the Constitution. But entering someone's DNA into a database merely for an arrest, which may or may not be a just arrest, is dangerous and unconstitutional.
How is this much different that taking a photograph or fingerprints of an arrestee?

Not saying it is a good idea, or bad. Just asking how it is any different?

And keep in mind that things like hair and blood can have DNA on them. Are you opposed to letting police collect hair and blood samples as well? How about evidence that might contain DNA?

Oh, I guess they fixed the clock.

No, I'm not generally opposed to photographs or fingerprints. But it could be argued that taking a hair sample, blood sample, or skin sample from an individual constitutes depriving that person of property. If they find it at a crime scene and do not TAKE it forcibly from an individual, fine. I just hope they can build a case without having something to compare it with.

That's bull****. Last time I checked, there were already laws against intentionally causing physical injury to a person. With all due respect to firefighters, LEOs, etc., I don't see why they should get some sort of extra protection under the law versus say, some other average Joe who is assaulted/battered by a scumbag. This is like affirmative action for public employees, and it's just plain wrong. It's essentially a legislature's affirmation that a public official's life is worth MORE than yours or mine.

This is garbage as well. It's not right for someone to file some protective order against someone and have his/her property STOLEN by the government when that person has never been convicted of a crime. This is no different that King George III's soldiers coming and eating your food and taking your horses.

This is the only one I really care for. Making Maryland shall-issue, huh? Sounds good to me.

Same here on HB2. I moved from a state where I've had a CCW for 7 years and now I can't even have a pistol in my car. What the hell was I thinking.;)

Hopefully, HB2 passes.

Not permitted. MD has some kooky requirement for transporting handguns, the most insane of which is that you can not stop at all between destinations...no bathroom, no snacks, nada.
