Could someone give me a basic run-down on Maryland laws in regards to private property, i.e. what are the can/can't do's on my own private property.
Thanks.
My understanding:
Most rifles and shotguns are not regulated. Pistols, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and other stuff are regulated.
To buy a regulated firearm, you need to take a safety course - either watching a video at the gun store or watching it online and mailing in a form (http://mdgunsafety.com/program.htm).
Limited to 1 regulated firearm purchase per month, unless you have a C&R license.
Maryland has concealed carry, but you need to show cause (so, be a cop, a bounty hunter, repo man, medical doctor who might prescribe restricted drugs, judge, some lawyers, etc). So no CCW for regular people.
You don't have to be a C&R licensee. I'm not but I am registered as a collector.
You write to the Maryland State Police and identify yourself as a collector (e.g., you collect Ruger single action handguns). In a few weeks they send you a letter verifying your status.
From then on, when you buy a regulated firearm, you tell the FFL dealer you're a collector. They check the collector box and you're good to buy more than one gun per month.
