Masterpiece

I looked and hopefully I am wrong for I was unable to find anything here on a book that I greatly enjoy about black powder shooting. Following his excerpts over the years here is what interested me in the site. So, on Sunday morning, before loading my family in the truck to head off to Church, I found myself on the deck with a good cup of black coffee about to begin for the third time. The first time was in draft form and I worked through it fairly quickly. The second time, I used a pencil to underline and mark a few areas I was specifically interested in. This time, I am going to treat it as my personal relaxation period, and when I find something of great interest I am going to go off on the tangent and run rabbits down into their hole, and by this I mean follow the details, and by details I mean that Gary Yee has included enough foot and endnotes to last me a lifetime.

This book is a masterpiece.

You will be glad that you did. I am ordering more for Christmas. People and family have visited and seen it on the coffee table. Then they start reading a bit. Later, they ask to borrow it. I then laugh and say, "NO, it cannot leave this house."

I can think of no other book like it, in terms of readability and thoroughness of research.

You are right when you say it is difficult to put it down. Gary Yee does a great job describing the various guns utilized in the time span he covers, & a keen insight into the men that use them against their quarry.
I purchased a copy for my youngest son while he was here visiting from Seattle, & he just took right to it.
There are several excerpts through out the forum with a lot of positive feedback. I just don't remember which headings (general discussion or black powder) & dates, but there is plenty of it.
Enjoy your coffee with the read. I certainly am,when he shares.
