Mauser 98

Has anyone changed the stock on their mauser 98 to a choate stock? If so was it a drop in fit? Mine does not, it is hanging up on the rear sight sleeve. Is this normal? Am I suppose to inlet it at this spot? Thanks

Is this the military issue barrel and are you talking about the band that encircles the barrel to mount the rear sight? I suspect that the stock was made to fit a sporter barrel so you may have to trim it to allow the sight band to lower into the barrel channel. Also, you may find gaps where the barrel is "stepped" if the stock was designed to fit a sporter contour barrel.

Yes, this is the military barrel but the stock is made to fit this barrel profile. Also the step is past the end of the stock so that is not a problem just that sleeve that the sight is mounted to.
