I currently have a FN military "mauser" in 30-06 that has been semi sporterized by having a checkered turn down bolt handle welded on, rear sight removed, stock cutdown with a plastic buttplate installed and a Redfield reciever sight installed. The original front sight ramp was retained with a white bead job installed. The gun shoot very well with the current sights, about 1.5" at 100yards. Should I retain the original stepped barrel and put in a new Boyd's stock or install a new barrel? The barrel condition is pristine. Also on the issue of triggers, to current one is very heavy, would a Huber Concepts trigger help the situation or just give me an adjustable heavy trigger? I was going to go with a Buhler style saftey and have it D&T for a scope and call the project done. Either that or buy a M70 but since I've just been laid off, that doesn't seem prudent.:banghead:
