A bank robbery suspect was killed and a police officer shot following a gunfire exchange this morning in Severna Park, according to Anne Arundel County police.
The incident took place just after 9 a.m., when a Bank of America, located in the 600 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard, was robbed.
Police said the suspect shot the officer during a foot chase.
The suspect was shot on Kimberly Court, a short distance from the bank.
The officer, who is a three-year veteran of the Eastern District, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. Authorities said they were confident that he will recover.
