Well, I just could not resist. I saw it about a month ago and couldn't get it out of my mind. I'm a "dyed in the wool" semi-auto handgun guy, but MAN, I just had to buy it!

The "IT" is an old cop trade-in, a High Standard K-120 12ga "Riot Gun". What a stout and slick piece of craftsmanship this old 12ga is. :D

With an 18" barrel and holding 6 rds of 2 3/4 12ga shells, about 38" in length, good looking plain wood and pretty nice bluing still, I was out the door for less that $150 including a box of shells.

I was at the range within hours and put about 15rds of 00 buck and about 10rds of #4 bird shot shells through "thug" targets at 21', 50' and 75'.

The action is slick, smooth and sure and it has rifle sights and has a very good pattern even at 75' with the 00 buck shot. At 75', the full size thug outline caught 7 of a possible 9 pellets of 00 buckshot, mostly in the fuller torso area.

I put a slip-on padded butt on this 'riot gun' just to ease any shoulder bruising. The kick is not bad at all at the shoulder. I even fired a few shells at waist level with a tight grip under my forearm and elbow. No problem at all, very controllable.

Yeah, I'm very pleased with this old cop shotgun. It was definately built to survive rugged use, but it is still a nice looking gun.

This one goes right next to the nightstand. Sleep tight! ;)

High Standard K-120

Don't have a K-120 but a while back I found a Flight King in excellent condition for $100 out the door. A mans wife had nagged him for buying it, in the store, and he later returned it saying it tended to jam. Dealer sold it to me as-is and it has been 100% reliable. Shortened to barrel to 20" and love it.

Grew up on a J C Higgins Model 20, before I went to 870's and Model 12's, but I still love those High Standards.

The Sheriffs Office I worked for has two High Standard Riot Shotguns, and to my knowledge they are still there in front line service.

They are solid and reliable. They look just like the ones in Black Talon's picture, but the stocks and forends were spray painted flat black :).

Just my .02,
LeonCarr

K-120 = Flight King

Your right. Being a Flight King Deluxe K-1211, it just has a little extra upgrade from the factory. Different wood and bolt/carrier is jeweled. It also has the 3/4 barrel band to hold the mag tube.

Still a great gun.

Fun,

Well done. Your PETP* membership card should be arriving soon...

Good guns! I used to be in the army reserve with a gal whose father made those for High Standard. I shot her .410 he had given her and it was sweet. I've got 870's and Model 12's but never got around to finding a good High Standard and seeing yours gives me an idea.
