What is the best way to measure pressure, chrono/ paper print out chrono? Or do the math? I have established loads whit in reason that work the best for each model gun I load for. I have a pro chrony w/out the print out. I wanted to ask before I go back to the books.

Copper crusher or piezo electric pressure sensors on a pressure gun. All other techniques are estimates based on reading the equivalent of tea leaves.

I use a chronograph and I make the assumption that if my bullet is going faster than book value, than my pressures are higher than book value. But, without any way to verify this, this falls into the realm of a belief system. Like Lady Luck, the tooth fairy or Santa Claus.

Recreational Software Inc. makes a device which measures pressure directly from one's firearm (with chamber access). It is not as inexpensive as most chronometers, but take a look at the website. It promises great things within the potential of portable computers.

The only financial connection I have with them is I've sent them money for products.

The best way to measure pressure is as Slamfire mentions, using the copper crusher method or piezo pressure sensor, there are also some strain gauge methods. This is a good read on the subject. Then we also have software solutions. Try as I did I was never able to find a formula to correlate muzzle velocity to pressure. QuickLOAD Review is a software solution and I never did see how they derive chamber pressure. Anyway, the best and most accurate means of measuring pressure are not inexpensive or easy to setup. A Google of Rifle Pressure will bring up some good reading.

None of the above.

There are programs that do a good job of calculating what it might be, but without pressure testing equipment, you'll never know for sure.

We're you really asking about pressure or did you make a mistake are were really asking about velocity since that's what a chronograph measures?

Thank you fella's as I was looking at what formula to use/and a user friendly way perhaps w/a chrono and w/o quick load. I want to thank you and go over some of these reads.
