I ordered a bunch of Mecgar CZ75 magazines a while back, for a good price. However I was busy at the time so I ended up chucking them into the closet when I got the order

Well, I recently pulled them out and found that the footer lip extends forward past the bottom of the gun by a good quarter of an inch.

Is this a known issue? Is there a known fix? The fit is fine otherwise, the footer is flush with the bottom of the gun.

My stock CZ75B mags seem to stick out about that far. If it really bothers you get out the grinder and cold blue :)

Function is paramount.

I think they do that on purpose so you can manually remove the magazine if it gets stuck. Mine are the same way.

They are all that way but it is not an "issue". Most CZs come with mag brakes. It facilitates removal of the magazine.

Has anyone had any issues reassembling their CZ MecGar mags? I couldn't get the locking plate's nub to fit into the base plate on any of my new MecGar mags. I finally had to push the locking plate with my Swiss Army knife while I slid on the base plate. I've never had to do that with any other MecGar mags.

I like the plate. After the gun and magazines get dragged through the mud a few times, they don't want to drop free anymore. The lip gives you something to grip.

They're supposed to be like that. I like it personally, gives my little finger something to rest on. Factory CZ mags also have this feature.

My factory mags have a thicker plastic base, not a flat metal one. They're relatively flush with the base of the gun. The plate is big enough to get a grip on if necessary.

I'll be considering some work with a grinder, I was thinking about using some for CCW, and I don't want it digging into the small of my back.

Tecolote, I've noticed the same thing when I disassembled mine to look at the spring. I ended up pounding it on my mouse pad to get it to reseat.

mbs357, that may be the case now, but I've had my CZ75BD for quite some time. Matter of fact, it was my first hand gun.

The protip was part of the reason I bought the Mecgars. It's just that all the magazines me, my dad, and my mom had were the plastic base 15 round ones. Well that and some AWB period 10 rounders with a large plastic base.

The metal footers was pretty much a 'huh?', so I asked the question.
