Considering purchasing a small stack of Mec-Gar mags for my new P226 to use as competition mags. Anyone have an opinions of the Mec-Gar products and supporting experiences?

I've seen no difference in reliability between them and factory SIG mags for my P226. In fact, MecGar makes mags for SIGarms, but that doesn't mean necessarily that the two would be equivalent. I've found them to be so, and use them as carry mags.

Hmmmmm. Four affirms and zero negs. Sounds like a bueno vote for Mec-Gar.

Go for the Mec-Gars.
I use them in my Beretta 92 and my Taurus PT-111.
They are high quality and cheaper.
I picked up two nickle plated ones for my Beretta 92 for $15 each from Mid- Shouth Shooters supply.

MecGars are great mags. The alternative for your P226 would be to get some used cheap standard caps. http://www.copesdist.com/ has some nice used 226 factory mags for ~$35 a piece, with either the metal floorplate or factory rubber floorplate. I'm not affiliated with them, just a satisfied customer.

Picked up some Mec-Gars, shot a competition this weekend (another story) and they functioned flawlessly. Thanks for the advice folks.

Mec Gar makes many of the factory mags. I know more than a few hard core types who say, "When the chips may be down, I'll only shoot factory or mec-gar."

I have six Mec-Gar 10 rounders for my P226 -- five nickel, one blue. Had some initial misfeeding problems with them but they vanished after I left them loaded for around 3 weeks -- springs needed a bit of breaking-in.

I wouldn't hesitate getting Mec Gar mags! They're very high quality. So much so that they provide stock mags for many gun manufacturers.
