Today, while I was out and about, I stopped in at the local pawn shop to wish my friends a Merry Christmas. While I was there, I noticed an old revolver in the case.
It was marked as a Colt DA revolver in 45 Long Colt. And priced at $599.95.
I laughed to myself and took a good look at it.
I asked the owner if he could work on the price, he said he would let me have it for $500. With only four days till Christmas, I said what the hell and bought it.
This makes my third Colt 1917.
It’s in pretty good shape. It locks up very tight and it’s clean.

Super find!

For $500 I would’ve been all over that 1917, too.

I wish the pawn shops around here had some guns worth looking at. All I have seen look like they were beaten half to death and left outside and are priced with a 30% premium (or more) over what it would be selling for anywhere else. :(

Stay safe.

I thought you would have those as spare parts in your already extensive collection?
I have a few parts, but not what I need.
I recently saw a picture of a revolver with the left grip more worn.
Previous owner a southpaw?
It appears that the right grip panel was replaced at some time. The bottom corners are worn a lot, but the metal wear doesn’t seem to match. Once I remove them for cleaning, I’ll have a better idea.

Was advertised as .45 Long Colt ? I'm a bit confused. Great gun in either caliber.
When I first saw it in the case, I thought it was a 1909 when I saw the caliber on the tag, but then the cylinder looked to short.
After I made the deal for the gun, I advised them of the model number, caliber and the correct SN#.
