I promised to give an update on my replacing the lock on my Mesa safe and I can say with 100% confidence that it is not a problem. Mesa Safe even supplied the lock for free as I explained that I was weary of the non UL rated lock. Now that's customer service!
I have added some pics below to show the compatibility of the New lock and I think you will see it's a true drop in..According to MESA, the mechanism was designed for the S&G lock but to keep cost down they offer the chi-lock as an option..To be honest, It really wasn't that bad but it's no Titan. The ONLY drawback was the silver color of the keypad but hey..It was free..
It took my approximately an hour to switch these two locks out and the S&G is a 100% drop in. No issues whatsoever..If you want to add a little more security than what comes stock and still have a safe that weighs over 500 pounds, UL Lock and cost less than 750.00 dollars, this ones hard to beat. So for anyone considering Mesa as a decent "RSC", I think you will be Impressed not only by the safe, but the company as well..
