Metro Police have captured the teenager suspected of going on a deadly shooting rampage in Rivergate and Madison. Police say 15-year old, Lavendar Dontay Howse shot three people Sunday, killing one.
It all started at the Shoe Carnival in Madison. Here, police say Howse was trying to steal a pair of shoes when a security guard tried to stop him. Investigators say that's when Howse pulled out a gun and shot the security guard six times.
Police say Howse, then fled to Rivergate Mall, where he shot a nine-year-old boy during an attempted robbery in the parking lot. The young boy was shot in the face, but is expected to be all right. The boy's father, happened to have a gun of his own, and opened fire on the teenager. Howse was not hit during the gun battle, but the stolen car he was traveling in was hit several times, causing the back window to shatter.
Still, Howse continued on his rampage, eventually making his way to another residential area in Madison. The final victim came when Howse shot a woman walking her dog down Oak Street.
Police received word that he may have been spotted in East Nashville, at the Berkshire Place Apartment Complex. When they arrived on the scene they were able to take Howse into custody. At the time of his arrest, he was still carrying a gun believed to have been used in all three shootings. He was also carrying additional ammunition.
Family members said, Howse had recently been released from juvenile, and was involved with a dangerous and influential crowd.
Howse was escorted back to the Juvenile Detention Center, but may later be charged as an adult.
He now, faces one count of Homicide, two counts of Attempted Homicide and three counts of Robbery.
