Try contacting the department where the gun will be registerd with the question. The only time I did it, I brought nothing other than the gun, purchase receipt, and a copy of my C&R. The officer working the desk first told me he was going to confiscate my pistol, indicating I committed an illegal transaction by purchasing a pistol in interstate commerce without a “regular” FFL. However, in the end I filled out a Pistol Sales Record and walked out w/ my pistol w/o being arrested or tasered. I cannot remember if I listed the seller as myself or the out of state company (SOG). I would rather not deal with that individual again. In fact, that is a secondary reason I want to eliminate Pistol Safety Checks. Arguing with a cop in a cop shop and finally telling him “how it is going to go down” is not on my top 100 list of fun things to do. To this day I do not understand why I was hassled.
I contacted the MSP Firearms Records Department after the fact. If I remember correctly the helpful individual I talked with said that a Pistol Sales Record was not really required in this instance, but to just do whatever the local department required.
