MI Subgun Championship 2023 (video)

I’m curious about the equipment and placement. How many in the top 10 were on form 4’s when the registry shut down in may of ‘86?

Interesting question. Looking at the combined times from the three classes (Optics, Iron Sights, Unlimited), the top 10 are nearly all pre-86 transferrable guns. Although some of those spots were shot by the same gun in different classes (shooter runs the same gun in Optics and Unlimited, for example).

Of those top 10 spots I see the following guns:
MAC10 (x2) transferable
M11/9 (x2) 1 transferable, 1 post-86
MP5 (x3) I believe 2 transferable, 1 post-86
Stemple, transferable

If you round out the top 10 shooters, removing duplicates from multiple runs, you then add a transferable Thompson and another MAC10, and a post-86 AK-9mm.

How many of the MACs were running Lage stuff?
Pretty sure all of them were. And except for my gun, I believe all the others were running some version of the MAX-31.

Well, except for Richard Lage who was running something else. He said he’s just waiting on ATF approval before announcing it. I won’t spoil it until he puts something out there officially. But it’s pretty cool.

Sweet. I wish we had enough FA guys around here to do something like that.
Depends on where “around here” is. I know of subgun matches in PA, OH, TN, FL, TX, MI, NE, AZ, AK, and NV. Maybe a few others. Some are monthly and others are once a year.

And we had people travel to MI from VA, FL, AZ, and from several states in between. With the Knob Creek match gone, it leaves a bit of a vacuum.

Looks like fun.

I haven't gotten to shoot any subguns since getting out of the Army. I actually liked the M3A1 "grease gun". It was pretty accurate when one actually used the shoulder stock as intended. And of course the MP5's were always fun to shoot.
