I've been there....
Broke my arm about 4 years ago and was unable to do a hunt all my friends were going on to take some feral hogs, although I was invited to the BBq and ate some fine pulled pork and ribs I was very jealous of them going but in the end they made it up to me by taking me on a deer hunt on a brand new lease.

im almost with you. After 5 back surgerys and a back that still reminds me its there daily and a knee that needs surgery, my wife tells me every day that I should be staying home. But somethings are worth suffering for.

You can sit at home with your back hurting, or you can sit in your blind with your back hurting. Are you dead? Do you have any sympathy for those that want to hunt but truly cannot? Get out there! Don't come back until you get a deer. And stop being a wimp, there are kids that read this website.

I will never see 80 again
I have arthritis of the spine with damage
I have loss of balance ----not safe to hunt beside me
I have already had one heart attack from plugged arteries & loss of circulation to the legs.
DO YOU THINK I WOULD BE A GOOD HUNTING PARTNER---I DON'T THINK SO
So I hope you guys enjoy yourself--I hunted close to 40 years--I think I put in my time

Howard J, you don't have to make any excuses to the poster from Indiana. You had your time and when its time to end it it's time to end it.
I just wanted to tell you a hunting story from about 10 years ago when I was working as a nurse in my local rural Emergency room.
The night before opening day I had a cough and pain in my chest so I went in to see the DR. on in the ER that night, and was lucky to be seen by a DR that I had worked with many times and shared hunting stories during the slack times on our shift. He did a chest xray and sure enough I had pneumonia. He started a IV and gave me antibiotics. However he wanted me to stay overnight for IV treatment. I was so bummed out. I asked if it was possible to go home with the IV in (heparin lock) and have my wife who was also a nurse give me the antibiotics so I could hunt. I had a heated condo in the woods and promised him I would not exert myself. He let me go home. The next morning (opening day) I shot a nice buck at first light. Instead of dragging the buck out myself I walked back to our home and my wife helped me get the deer out of the woods. A few days later I was feeling better and on oral antibiotics.

good luck to you Howard!

Headed off to deer hunt on my old home place. I have owned the property since 1969. Not many s deer around as it is to close to fruit farms and those farmers keep the herd shot off with permits. Also having a family that surrounds us that shoots off all the does it is hard to have any deer at all.

We only have one little 5 point on camera. Being it has been a few years since I put venison in the freezer I am going to tick off the horn worshipers if he shows up. I love veal any way.

Old timer hunted same spot as me, for about 20 yrs.
Had cancer the last couple.
Said he'd quit.... but he'd be out there.
Finally passed away (at home).

Place felt wrong without him up there.

Filled my tag this morning. A hefty 5 point. A lot heavier than he looks in the trail cam pictures.

With my bad back it is dang hard to gut out a deer any more. My nerve stimulator in my back plus Vicodin has not been enough to kill the pain. Luckily we have a set up to hoist the deer to do the skinning and quartering. Finally got to do it in the day light instead of flood lights. In coolers on ice. Start cutting tomorrow am. Sure miss the garage refrigerator that gave up the ghost last winter.

@USAF--Vet
I can't send you a deer but I will recommend Win Schulers
Eat some cheese for me.
We got kicked out of Schulers one time( on way to Fort Custer) for eating too much cheese
with beer.
Have fun ---------------------:D:D
