After my 15% off coupon I gave around $330 for it.

Picked up a 6 shot gated Howells

And here she is now!

Its unique for sure. It's also very aesthetically pleasing in person and shoots amazing to boot.

I cant complain 1 bit. I put around 100 45 colt loads through her today of a few different handloads and a little store bought ammo.

Its been my experience remingtons make a excellent smokeless conversion, but the holy black gums em up very quick.

When im shooting black I'll usually grab one of my colts, when I'm shooting smokeless I'll grab a remmy.

Yes, I have Howell conversion cylinders for both my Remingtons (Uberti and Armi San Paolo). It's just that I don't like the idea of cutting into the recoil shield for a gated conversion.

You don't- It's cosmetic only, hence the "colored".

I really need to stay off gunbroker. I put in a bid that will probably win on something else, I don't need but would like to have.

I bought this Pietta Remington recently at Cabella's for $319. I could see nice walnut under the muddy red stained grips, so I stripped them and applied a few coats of True Oil. I think it looks so much better with the natural finish on the walnut. It shoots great after upgrading the nipples for #11 caps but after seeing your conversion now I want a Howell 45 LC cylinder too.

Sure it does. It looks right on everything. 1911s, CZ-75s, Winchester lever guns, the cat, the canary, ALL OF IT.

The Sheriff model Pietta 58 is probably the perfect model for a conversion cylinder. I picked one up from the last Cabela's sale before Bass Pro bought them out and ruined them. The short loading ram on the Sheriff model is difficult to use. I just can't get enough leverage with it. I found it was easiest to load on my full size 58 and then swap the cylinder over to my short Sheriff model.

I think it looks great. The barrel looks shorter than 5.5"? I have one of the first Uberti Remington "Navies". Maria Uberti took this one to the Shot Show in 1988.
