Ordered some reloading and gun cleaning stuff tonight. I've always ordered from Midway USA with a few exceptions. I've ordered from Natchez and Midsouth before but mostly Miday USA, I really like their web site as it's easy to use. I've had a few things in my wish list and decided to order tonight. I always knew that their shipping was ridiculus. So tonight I figured I'd play around a little. Put the same EXACT things in my wish list for Midsouth Shooters Supply here's the link -> http://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/ and compared them. My order ended up being a 4lb package of some bullets, reloading tools, gun cleaning supplies, etc.

Midway USA order totaled $71.64 with estimated shipping of $12.76 for a total of $84.40.

Midsouth Shooters Supply order totaled $62.50 with shipping to regular address of $7 something (can't remember exact amt). I only paid shipping of $5.84 to business address (I use my work address). They give a small break to business adresses. Total due = $68.34.

Just a small order of some reloading and shooting supplies and I saved $16.06! I'm sure a lot of you are aware of this but just wanted to pass it along! I'm sure Midway USA's advertising has something to do with it!!

How expensive something is, is more than just the dollars spent on it. For me, the ease of using a website, the attitude and efficiency of the help desk when I call, how fast the merchandise gets to me, and how well packaged it is, all play into the real expense.

I also like getting everything from one place. Midway is it for me.

I ordered from midsouth one time. it was great. good prices. but they have a smaller selection. and the site is not as easy to navigate. IMHO.

I have ordered from all sites mentioned and many others. Yep, Midway's shipping is expensive, but they usually have everything I need. When combining shipping costs from various other sites, they usually end up being more expensive than a single order from MidwayUSA. I usually wait until I have a large enough order. And the US mail shipping is pretty reasonable, even through MidwayUSA. One last week was about $4 for a ~$60 order.

I haven't purchased from Midway in over a year, and I even have a dealer discount with them. Their prices have consistently gone up and their shipping is insanely high compared to other vendors.

I prefer Graf & Sons or Brownells. Grafs has better dealer prices and fair shipping costs with a product catalog close to Midway's. Brownells has excellent dealer prices with flat rate shipping.

Midsouth is an excellent place to buy from if they have what you need.

I noticed that ammo prices from MidWay are not as competitive as they were about a year ago. Natchez usually has the lower price now. However, I did get a kimber .22 conversion kit from them last year for $260 plus I had a $20 coupon. Ya gotta shop around.

I don't ever use Midway anymore because of their prices. I do use Midsouth a lot. I just ordered from them yesterday.

I agree on the site being hard to navigate. I usually use one of their catalogs and do a search on P/N tha is in the catalog.

I've been a Midway customer for about 15 years, but I've noticed the higher prices as well. My last reloading supply order (mostly bullets) went to Natchess and I saved about $20.

I find that though Midway's prices aren't always the best......their sale prices are seldom beat.

I have a mental wish list and check their monthly fliers.

I don't buy everything from Midway....but they certainly are a "principle supplier"

I've bought the vast majority of my stuff from Midway and here's why. If I place an order early Monday morning, its at my door by 1 pm Wednsday. Its tough to beat that! I don't mind paying their shipping prices, as their service is top notch, they have everything, and it usually in stock.

Midway is getting spendy! Even more than Cabela's. If something is back ordered they nail you twice on shipping. I was impressed at how fast I received things from Midsouth!

Midway is not the only company are also as quick. Placed my order from Midsouth on Sunday night February 10th. Got my email this morning (Tuesday Feb 12th) that my order shipped on Monday February 11th. For some reason I ordered UPS Ground but they are shipping FedEx. Email says I will have it by Thursday Feb. 13th. To me that is as quck as I have ever got anything from Midway (here in central PA). Don't mean to badmouth Midway as I will probably order from them again. Just that I will now shop around with other reputable companies before just throwin money away to Midway.

It wasn't that long ago (couple of years?) that Midway had no separate shipping fee. The item prices were a little higher, but it came out better in the end. The price marked was the price paid.

To be fair, I don't mail order nearly as much as I used to. Shipping costs have gone through the roof. Lots of companies will charge, oh, say $6 for shipping & the item will come in the mail with a $1.25 stamp on it. Can't help but feel that I've been screwed.

I used to do a lot of business with MidwayUSA. Not so much in the last six months, other than for clearance items.

They *have* gotten a lot less price competitive relative to Midsouth or Natrchez or Wideners.

Then they changed to "fair and honest" shipping. Remember that. It has gotten less and less "fair" along the way to where it is now.

It's called, "they are selling shipping as well as products".

I've seen other companies sell shipping and they are disdained by many of their customers.

Personally I order very little from them in past few months however across the board prices are going higher on shipping and on any metals, while I do not want to turn this into a political thread overall the working poor and that includes many who consider themselves middle class are slowly have hobbies taken out of play simply by prices alone as a senior citizen who has witnessed changes first hand over the past 40 years I find it sad, but the greed of corporations appear to have no end.

I placed an order with Mid-Way for a number of items. Because of a couple of them being out of stock, I would up paying 3 shipping charges for one order.:cuss:
