Just got word this week that my CMMG flat-top upper is in production so it's time to begin gathering the sighting system. I'm planning on the Millett DMS-1 (1-4x24mm) red dot scope. I would appreciate suggestions for the fold down rear sight that will co-witness the scope and/or fill in if scope problems occur. I also need info as to what is needed to get the scope to the correct height. It will have the standard A2 FSB. Thanks, Don

Here's a link to a 70 page thread about the Millett DMS-1. I've read them all, somewhere in there are the answers to all of your questions.
I recently put one on my Bushmaster C15M4 that has been made into a flat top. I used Burris Xtreme medium height rings. I'm very happy with the scope, didn't bother with BUIS, optics only for me. Because the "dot in a donut" and the crosshairs show up without illumination it'll take a major failure to render the scope completely useless and from everything I've read about them that has yet to happen.

I had a Millet DMS-1 on my M4gery a while back.

In my opinion, you do not want to co-witness with the optic. It isn't like an Aimpoint or EOTech.

I had YHM flip-up rear and YHM rail-mounted flip-up front sight on mine. That was good set-up. I could flip down the front sight to keep it out of the way of the optic. If I flipped it up, I could see it clearly on 1X through the optic. It was distracting in my opinion. I'd re-think the standard front sight base if I wanted a 1-4 optic on the rifle if I were you.
