Well I seem to be moving away from pistolmania and back into my old Carbinosis! My mint 1891 Argentine carbine will join it's other stablemates: Martini Henry MK4 .303 British artillery carbine, 7mm Rolling block Mexican Issue carbine, 30-40 Krag carbine, 1895 Steyr mannlicher Stuzen (8x56'S'), 1935 Brazilian 7mm Mauser Carbine, SMLE Mk 5 jungle carbine, Persian 8mm 'Sun Lion' Czech carbine, FN 'Palace Guard' 30-06 Carbine, M-1 carbine(which I really don't class in same collection) , M-38 Swedish Carbine (a gorgeous example) and a 38 Berretta made 6.5 Carcano 'police carbine with a spring blade bayonet. Uh oh I forgot the Destroyer 9mm Largo carbine! I like carbines because they usually have turned down bolts, diminutive sizes for display (and play) and more unusual features than the full length rifles. They usually are more expensive(worth more) BUT lately more and more of the long rifles are being sold for more than the carbines(for instance the 1891 Argentine and the Krag) of the same condition. I sold my Arisaka folding paratrooper 6.5 carbine to somebody who had to have it 10 years ago, and my Vietnam return 1938 Moisin 15 years ago(when they were rare and worth $300!) . Any other military carbines you can reccomend that I should get ? I must be able to get ammo for it to shoot it for me to be interested!

You have way too many carbines. Maybe you should try some full length battle rifles. To help you out, I'll give you two really *cough* nice Turkish M38s in exchange for your Persian Carbine. It would be a huge sacrifice on my part, but I'm only trying to help. :D

Yugo SKSes are dirt cheap and plentiful right now. I've heard good things about the 91/59 also, but don't have any personal experience with them (yet).

Went to Big 5 today and low and behold, they have a pretty good M-44 Mosin-Nagant on the rack. Numbers match and the manager(not the junior high school kid that normally works the counter) said he encourages people to take their milsurp guns to the 'smith to have the headspace checked out and to check out the general condition. In addition the manager said he is pretty sure all the milsurps at Big 5 will be on sale on Dec 26.
Santa said that she is going to make a sizable contribution to my slush fund, so I think I may be descending down the slippery slope that is milsurp collecting.

Gordon, you missed one!

M1895 6.5x53R Dutch/Romanian Cavalry Carbine (turnbolt, not straight-pull), as made by Steyr:

Hmmm...don't see an Enfield No5 Mk1 Jungle Carbine on your list. Sexiest bolt action there is, and you can still find 'em.

Umm, jrhead75, you gotta read in his list of guns a bit more closely...

1935 Brazilian 7mm Mauser Carbine, SMLE Mk 5 jungle carbine, Persian 8mm 'Sun Lion' Czech carbine,

See it? He mentioned it. ;)

I've got a few Mosin-Nagant 91/59s. I like them a lot. They are much nicer and more accurate than my M44 and M38.

I'm a huge fan of carbines also. I really like my Marlin 9mm Camp Carbine also. It's not a military classic, but it's not made anymore so I guess it's sort of collectable.

Another interesting carbine is the Czech CZ-52, especially the one's made in 7.26x39 (the real CZ-52-57 not those converted by Century Arms).

Killer 95 Dutch! Bit Esoteric on the ammo, nicht wahr? Actually I should not have named M-1 carbine because I feel it is in my assault weapon collection. Yes I have sporting carbines too! My 14 1/5 Remington .44 is cute and weird along with #4 Remington and on and on. I don't have any thing against the Moisin Nagant, I like my Sako M-39 and don't feet the need for another BUT I'll look into the M59!:D
