Is the blast from these less than standard 23/4? We have a rental property but the owners bro in law lives on the place and doesn’t like us shooting. The owner doesn’t care. The place is over ran with squirrels and they have started getting into our crops. I’ve been using a .22mag but with a shotgun I could clean house pretty quick. Just curious if these would be good or not as low noise rounds. Just don’t want to upset him as much as possible.

Haven't tested a sound difference with a meter, but they certainly recoil less than 2 3/4" shells. I don't expect they are a lot quieter than regular shells and probably not as quiet as a 22mag.

Hell if all you have to get rid of is tree rats, and noise is a problem, you don't even need a .22mag. A regular old .22LR will do.
You go shooting shotgun pellets at the garden and (depending on the range) you could end up with tiny little holes all in your produce.
Shoot a subsonic .22LR round and it will be pretty quiet. (or a .22 short)
Figure out your shooting distance to the garden, then zero for that range. You should be able to head-shot the little buggers every time you see one.
A dog with a good prey drive like a German Shepherd will keep them close to the trees too... lol.

Yea it’s an 80 acre place and they’ve let them get out of hand.I have never seen as many anywhere. Lots of briers and trees so perfect habitat. I’ve been hitting them with the .22 just seems like headway is slow. The other day with a shotgun I could’ve got 3 with 1 shot. Maybe I’m just getting greedy:)

I took a box of those to the trap club once. Although my score was about the same as 2 3/4 shells, the other shooters said so was the noise.

Like @Space Ghost wrote, try .22 shorts. I dealt with a squirrel infestation with a box of those. They don't make any more noise than a screen door slamming shut and it's lots of fun!

My friends have Jack Russell's and they are not quite :), but very fun and active pets. I second the 22s option out of a bolt action they are as quite as a pellet gun, and that would be another option, a good pellet gun and some of those come with suppressors

Scoped bolt gun with CB shorts. Sounds like it has a can on it

CCI Quiet .22 may work for you. I picked up a couple of boxes and found them to be fine in revolvers or bolt guns. Wouldn`t reliably cycle in auto`s but I didn`t expect them to either. Since I don`t have a .22 lever gun I can`t advise on them. Not sure how much quieter they are than regular .22`s since I didn`t shoot without hearing protection but they were at least "somewhat" quieter than regular .22`s.
