Mini 14 rear sight question

I have a 180 series Mini-14. Will the rear sight windage detent and spring for post 180 series rifles also work on the 180 series? I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it or trade it for a newer version, but either way I need to replace these parts.

If your Mini has the flip up rear peep than no. If it has the fixed protected rear peep than yes. The old flip up style is known for breakage.

I'll second the breakage comment. Mine broke recently. Currently looking for a better replacement sight.
