I want to scope my older 181 series mini 14.

I hate the peep sight it has because the hole is way too small so I want to scope it.

I have the side mount set up now but the scope is way too high for my liking.
I considered an Ati stock with forward rail that could use a red dot but I'm not sure how solid that would be.

Also considring this. http://www.hinterlandoutfitters.com...-system-wmedium-rings-ruger-mini-p-19129.html.

Basically I want to duplicated the ranch rifle.

Any great ideas guys?

I don't have any advise but I found that mount on Bud's a little cheaper(cash discount) if you are interested. I have two Mini 14's, I have a older Blue Mini like yours that I've never scoped and a newer Stainless Steel with the heavier barrel. The SS Mini came with pretty decent 1" scope mounts and I did have it scoped for a short while until I needed the scope for another project. I'm *thinking* about trading in my Blue Mini for another newer SS model if they give me a good trade in price otherwise I'll just keep it.

I've been using a B Square side mount on my 185 series for six years or so and have no complaints with it. I have removed and replaced the scope hundreds of times and it holds zero good enough to whack coyotes out past 200 yards. I shoot iron sight most of the time.

My side mount sucks but I don't know which brand it is.

I can move the front of the scope up or down about 1/8 inch.

The whole mount pivots on the thumb screw.
