mini14 scope rings

Hey everyone first post. I recently bought a used mini14 198 series. I bought a scope and Weaver rings, the type that allow use of the iron sights. After mounting the scope it is noticeably not straight with the rifle. Question is has anyone had this problem? Did I get bad rings? Btw this is a 70 dollar Walmart special scope, also the mini is a ranch rifle with built-in scope mounts and pop up sights. Any help is much appreciated. -Drew

It sounds (from here) like a ring problem. If you don't have the factory rings, your best bet is probably to find a replacement set, and scrap the see-through ring idea.

I've never seen Weaver rings designed for a Ruger. Leupold makes some, but they are much more expensive than the factory rings. I'd get a set of factory rings made for the rifle.

Thanks all. The rings do seem kinda cheap, i expected them to be better. I guess i'll have to give up the idea of having both sights.
