Watch the video clip from 8:20sec if you only want to see the relevant part.
The clip is short history lesson on the tonfa. Near the end a miniature tonfa is showed which is just long enough to protrude from each end of the had with the "handle" protruding between the index and middle finger.
A weapon along the lines of a "knuckle duster", but probably easier to explain during a search...
