I asked the DPS the other day this question:

"I have a question today about my Florida carry permit. I am a Minnesota resident, but am licensed by the Florida Department of State to carry a "concealed weapon or firearm". The requirements for a Florida permit are more strict than Minnesota (a fingerprint card must go through the FBI, and a photo is required, in addition to the background check, plus the application must be notarized).

Can I legally carry a pistol - right now - with this permit? I have applied for my Minnesota permit, but may not receive it for another three weeks, or so."

I received the following response:

"The MN Dept. of Public Safety is researching the issue of other states' carry permit laws and will publish the information on our web site when it is available. Please check our web site at a later date. Out of state permits are not valid in Minnesota until established as such."

I know that Packing.org makes the (unverified) statement that other states' permits are valid until the list of unapproved states is out, but this says otherwise.

The issue for me is moot, as I received my Minnesota permit today. Y'all are gonna have to wait for the list to come out, though.

Mr. Wilson:

The law also states that the DPS has 60 days (from 28 May, I believe) to publish the list of states whish are disallowed.

I wasn't ready to be a test case, so I'd have waited. Feel free to volunteer, though. Right or wrong, I'd rather not challenge it. I s'pose the Attorney General has the last word, but, since he's a leftist Democrat, I have an idea what he'd say...

JB - it's midnight; I'm going to bed

The gods willing, Minnesota's leftist extremists will tire of snivelling and whining about the shall issue law in about 60 days, too—but I wouldn't bet a nickel on it. What sore losers!
