I have a 4-incher with a great trigger, but sometimes when I cock it it seems to catch. It's like it cocks and then catches. If I so much as touch the trigger, it trips and will fire. Naturally this is not good. The gun fires great in double action and most of the time functions fine in single action. It's just that sometimes it cocks and then catches on something. If I push on the hammer, it pops back into battery (single action), but if I touch the trigger the hammer drops.
When I pull the cylinder out of the frame, there's no catching at all. Everything's fine. But when I close the cylinder, it seems to do it on just a couple of chambers.
I don't want to send the gun back if I can fix it myself, but I have no idea where to start. Can anyone offer any suggestions? I'm thinking that maybe the hammer might not be properly engaging the trigger in some way, but I don't know how it all links up.
Thanks!
