Well, both of the "snake guns" as my wife calls them have come home, I've had a chance to fire the "right handed" one, but I believe the "left handed" one to be unfired since it was still full of cosmoline, and there was almost no powder residue in the chambers or barrel. The right one shot just fine, even with the tiny rear sight. I'm sure the bright orange nail polish helped a lot.

So I thought some might be interested in some better pictures of them. You have to look close to tell the difference.

In case anyone missed the previous thread, they are Cimarron/Uberti replicas of the Colt 1871/72 Open Top Cartridge revolvers in 44 Special.

The grips apparently aren't original to the guns. Oddly enough, I don't particularly care for the "snakes" but without them, I probably wouldn't have bought the guns. I certainly wouldn't have purchased both of them. But with them, they were unique enough to stand out.

Can't say I'm crazy about the snakes either but they do lend a bit of uniqueness to the guns themselves. It makes for a very neat and distinctive brace of .44 Specials.
