Why is it that every where I look, when I pull up the specs on a Winchester Model 70 feather weight in .223, it does not exist. Yet I have one that my grandfather bought years ago and put 30 rounds through.
I know this because I have the empty casings.

Can anyone tell me about this rifle?
How effective is it in this caliber?
What is its range?

I shot upwards of 500 meters with an AR, is this rifle just as effective if not better?

On the cartridge, if you have fired a AR, then it is really the same, but bolt vs semi auto. It is very effective on certain types of game, but not so much on others:D

Its range is comparable to that of the AR I would imagine. Effective as in what? Great varmint gun and a lot of people use that round on deer which legal in Texas. Somebody will know more specifics in a few on the model/caliber combo. You ought to take it out to APG on 380 just past farmersville and shoot it. They have 300yard range.

The M70 was built in limited quantities on a short action in a wood stock much like the FWT standard M70. It was only built for a short time in the late 70's or early 80's, come to think of it, it was after U.S.Repeating Arms took over. As I said, not many were built, my friend had one and I wanted one but could never find one, it was a push feed action and was about the same weight as a Mini Mark X.

just hard to find

Yeah, Winchester made a featherweight in .223. It is probably just going to be hard to find. I have a one in 7X57 Mauser and I rarely see info on that either. Check in the "Blue Book of Gun Values." It is in there. Good luck to you.

If you want some peace of mind and restful sleep, I'd be happy to take it off your hands. I'll do all the worrying for you on the specs and performance.

+1 They didn't make many feathereight's in that caliber, it should have a 1 in 12 twist.
