I am scheming to have my grandfather's old Model 97 restored. Aside from needing a thorough overhaul and re-finishing, the barrel is currently abbreviated with a ding in it, from a home saw-off job decades ago. (No one still alive remembers the story behind that one.)

Where can I find a 16 ga barrel? There are still 12 gas being imported, but I can't find any 16 gas anywhere. (And by...anywhere, I mean Brownell's. That's the only place I know to look.) Will I have to cannibalize another one? If I can even find one?

This one still runs, just not very well. I found out from an older cousin, that my grandpa kept it in a horrible state, he had a memory of it slam-firing, he would hunt with it, with the action open, and yank the pump forward when he saw a bird. :)

Over the years I have put a box or so of shells through it, it still runs, just without a choke. I decided that A: I would like to have a 16 ga in the family, B: there is no value left in it to ruin, and C: my grandfather would rather see it shot than babied if he were still here.
