It seems about a year ago or so I got an odd hankering to make my own renditions of Doc Holliday's pistols based way loosely on some online history and the movie Tombstone. For his historical 1877 nickel plated Colt Lightning (pearl handled?), I used a Cimarron stainless Thunderball with a birds head styled grip and made my own pearl handled grips for it. Then going to the movie Tombstone for his ivory gripped nickel plated SAA, I went with a Cimarron Pistolero nickel plated SAA clone and made some faux ivory grips for that. I made a couple threads on them back then, and youtube vids as well, so please look them up if interested.
But since then I had been trying to finish up a display box/case for them, and finally I was recently able to finish it. It's just an upcycled silverware case with foam and blue velvet. I added replica Deputy US Marshal badge similar to the one Wyatt Earp gave to Doc in the movie Tombstone, and also a 1881 Silver Dollar to add a little more to the display aspect. Lastly I added a name plate I picked up on ebay to complete the outside of the box/case. It turned out pretty nice for an old beat up unloved silverware case. Here's a couple pics and a video if interested.
