whats the deal with them i see them sold moly coated and i see kits to coat them yourself any info

I personally would stay clear the @@ away from moly. There is no clear advantage to moly to make it worth your while. Causes water under the moly if you don't understand it. Don't worry the subject is hotly contested by both sides, somebody will pipe up for the moly.,

Ive never had a problem with moly coated bullets in my reloads, and I do see a reduction in buildup in my barrel by using them over traditional copper jacketed bullets

I like moly bullets because they look cool ;) There seems to be slight differences between them and non-coated bullets, but I don't think there is a clear winner.

Molly bullets will give slightly more velocity for the same pressure. They are also used by big name competitors like David Tubb, who use whatever wins.

There are some advantages to using moly.... but there are some REAL issues with switching back and forth between moly'd bullets and copper in the same barrel.

Unless you have ALL the copper cleaned out of a barrel before you shoot moly it can cause accuracy prolbems..... and unless you have ALL the moly removed from a bore before switching back to copper it can ALSO cause accuracy problems.

Most benchrest and HP shooters make a decision when they install a new barrel as to which one, moly or copper, they are going to put through the new tube. They then stick to that for the entire life of that barrel.

Personally, I've never found the need for the extra hassles.... I shoot copper exclusively..... but Hey, that's just me.

Best to all,

i also stuck with copper only, but concur with the poster who said moly looks cool.

by that i mean, if you're mostly interested in fit and finish, it's hard to beat nickel plated brass with a moly-coated projectile. wow. beautiful.
but if you're a shooter, eh, not so much
