Well needless to say i was thrilled at being able to go to the range twice in one weekend!

The first trip on a friday morning was just like the usual trip lots of fun, no weapons malfuctions and of course did not forget any gear.

But todays trip is where i got annoyed. Today i took a novice (shot a 22 twice) out to the range today with my sisters boyfriend (who is also relatively new). For some reason i have all the patience in the world when teaching people to shoot. Its just something about working with them and seeing their look of statisfaction after finishing a round of target.

Neither owned their own firearms so the novice went out and bought some ammo for the trip as i was completely out of .22 and had only 40 rounds or so of.223 After giving him carefull instructions on what to get and how much to spend i meet them so we can go out to the range. He bought some MONARCH .223 when i have never shot through my AR-15 and MONARCH 7.62x39 (which i have shot through a buddies SKS)

I loaded up the AR and proceed to shot, on the second round of Monarch the rifle ejects the cartridge yet fails to cycle a new round in, causing me to have to pull on the charging handle to load a fresh one. 2 shot later again, 3 shot later again and for the rest of the magazines its okay. One of the shells that did no cycle had a mark on the side from where the firing pin struck the side.

At this time im thinking it may be the ammo and not the 1month old Bushmaster. So i loaded a new clip and let the novice take it out, after EVERY SECOND SHOT he has to pull the charging handle to load in a new round. (The though of a bolt action straight pull AR-15 was not very exciting) I decide to go talk to one of the Range Officers i met through shooting out there and tell him about the problem, he as if it was the green laqured and i told him it was not, it was brass. No where did it say laqured, his advice was not to shoot laqured ammo of anysort through it because it comes off and make the area around the bolt sticky and the AR-15 is too precise to work with it in there. He said he has heard of similar problems with other wolf ammo as well.

Later today i talked with another friend who thinks it might have a lighter load of powder and it is not enough to properly cycle the rifle.

What do yall think?

Used Monarch in my AR-180B w/o any problems, the green lacquered stuff included. It's possible an Ar-15 is more fincky in regards to ammo then a 180B. The brass cased stuff is defineately NOT lacquered, the green cased stuff is.
