This is a continuation of the thread "Broke My First Law", from General Gun Discussions.

I'm in Great Falls & don't shoot at the new complex just outside of town. They severely irked me when the extortion for fees began. I now shoot on our place between Monarch & Raynesford on Mt. 427. There's room to set up a 1000 yard range, and I might just do that. But, for now, getting a couple of solid benches up & accurate distances marked are more important.

However, gopher season is rapidly approaching. Are you ready?

I am in Browning, as a non-Indian on the rez I cannot hunt here. Even non-game animals.

I am more than ready for gophers, although I need to sight in my rifles (AR15) and get a mount and scope for my .243. I do have a 17HMR pistol that is fairly new that needs to get some powder burned in it.

I normally work 7 days on/7days off and am more that willing to come down, help you range and get some benches built.

I would be very happy with 600 yds personally, for now.

Just let me know.

eta: Just how many gophers do you have down there?

How many gophers? They are literally uncountable! It's not at all unusual to go through a brick of .22lr on a good day. And I'd strongly suggest a good .22 that's capable of reliably hitting a golf ball size target at a hundred yards. My .223's a back-up gun to the rimfire's on a gopher shoot.

The main place I go doesn't allow pistols, at all. That's grounds for getting 86'd permanently. Not the ranch foreman's idea, the owner's a Bozeman prof.

Now coyotes, lots of other places to go & the AR & .243 are just fine. I usually work 5 & a half days a week, so shooting time is limited for me. I'm a locksmith, on call a lot too.

Not too long ago I was in Browning rekeying the Museum Of The Plains Indians. That was an all-day job for two of us! Long day too, with the commute.

I'll have to keep a look out for a shoot together sometime after tax season. A 200 miles radius is reasonable. (Monarch is 199.3 miles from my house.) See ya'll sometime after April.
 
Any of ya'll want to help out a few Californians in June? ;) (How's that for inviting yourself. lol) Maybe show us around a bit. We'd love to find some spots to shoot.

My brothers and I are coming up that way and looking to do some varmint hunting. Squirrels, gophers, badgers...whatever is moving in front of us.
