Do you like moonclips? I have a Smith 625 and purchased a boatload of moonclips so I can have about 100 rounds available to me at any time. They're easy to carry, easy to load (in the gun) and cheap to buy compared to semi-auto magazines.

I know others don't like having to remove the brass after they have been fired, and a host of other reasons.

So why do you or don't you like them?

-Robert

I like moonclips because the provide for both quick reloading and ejecting, they are cheap, and they are more compact than a speedloader. I don't like them because they can bend.

I have have been shooting a the 625 since 1988. I love the gun. It is the perfect fun handgun. I think that one can never have enought fullmoon clips. I have enough to keep nearly 1000 rounds loaded. Or a months worth of shooting for me. I love the RIMZ full moon clips. And, I have some of them too!

I like 'em. My 625 is favorite revolver and I shoot it quite a bit. Loading and unloading the clips without a tool can be tedious, but there are several different types of tools available that make the chore no more onerous than loading magazines.

While they can get bent, with a little care they'll last a long time. I bought a bunch of them (500) at a very reasonable price from an outfit in Tazwell,TN back when I bought the revolver five or six years ago. I'm still working on the first fifty.

The best part for me is that I can shoot .45 ACPs without having to spend as much time scrounging for my brass in the grass as I did shooting.

I've used moonclips on a buddy's M25 .. liked it a lot.

So much so - I shall soon have my own 625 coming .. with a hope a few moonclips to kick me off ..... as others have said ... this is a great fun-gun combination.

I have both a 357 and 44 that have been mooned. Love the easy and fast reload: better than a speedloader. Can still load and shoot individual rounds also.

The key to unclipping empties is using a demooner and not your hands.

I sent the cylinder of my mod 66 to Tom @ Tkcustoms and had it mooned. I use the demooner and the loader. He also sold me a neat carrier that's flat on the belt and stacks 2 loaded clips, for 2 reloads. Couldn't imagine shooting a revolver any other way.

As others have said I like the fast reload in my Taurus 455 2" snub and 4" Tracker. I have enough to load before going to the range and unload when I get home. I keep several loaded at home with different ammo for different situations.

I have had a Model 25-2 for 30 years. I love the gun, but moon clips are a pain. I have used it for IPSC, and used moon clips. When I am playing at the range, I usually don't bother. Just load without, then pull the spent cases out.

I like them for their ease of use, and that's good because I can't shoot my converted .45 Webley MkVI without 'em. Someday I might get my S&W M65 and GP100 converted also. It's just more convenient.

For those of you who hate the steel clips, please give the RIMZ polymer clips a try. The RIMZ 625 clips are available for the 625-4 and newer revolvers, the RIMZ 610 clips are for the 10mm/.40 cal revolvers and the RIMZ 25 are for the 625-3 and older revolvers. You don't need tools to load and unload the cartridges.

Check out www.beckhamdesign.com. Call their toll-free number listed on the site. You can order by phone but not on-line as yet. Minimum credit card order is for 3 packages of the clips. You can mix and match if necessary. Minimum shipping charge is $2.00.

I like 'em in my S&W 625. For range use the RIMZ clips cannot be beat.

For carry the steel clips seem to hold the rounds more securely. You can easily remove the empties from the clip with a demooner made from a piece of copper water pipe. E.g., here's the one I made in use:

I think they work great in my sp101 9mm. I can carry two reloads in the space of one speed loader. also, I can load 10 clips and shoot for quite a while, and never loose any brass.
