Moose Killed Near NYC

I lived in Upstate New York (Albany) in the late eighties, and spent a lot in the Adrondiaks (sp?) generally considered the wildest, least developed part left. The state forest rangers said there were about 5 moose in the entire state at that time. If there are so many now they are wandering to within 40 miles of NYC, I call that a good thing.

Ah, I understand now. Thanks for that. I thought there were moose all around the NE and upstate NY. Moose are great critters. Generally amiable and rarely lethal. I've been chased by a few. It's like a free ticket to Pamplona.

Also, they are a cornucopia of meats. Hundreds and hundreds of pounds of it. All super-high quality stuff.

mmmm, mooseballs! Ah, that's moose meat balls, like Swedish meat balls. :uhoh: Great with a little gravy and lingonberry jam.

Was Sarah Palin involved? :D
Can't say.

But rumors are spreading that this was pulled off by
a hit man hired by Rocky over a royalty dispute. :scrutiny:

Westchester County is Suburbia Central and I-684 is a major commuter highway. I'm surprised the moose only got hit by nine cars. I have seen the aftermath of deer trying to cross that road: Pretty much nothing left but blood and hair.

Check this article to get an idea of how scarce moose are in New York State:

The areas they're referencing are hundreds of miles north of Westchester Country. I can't imagine how this moose found its way down there.

Moose balls in spaghetti? Yummmm.

Hm. "Rocky Mountain Oysters" versus "New York Oysters?"

Hm. Hm. Do little kids in Italy pronounce it "pisghetti" too?

Me go now.

I have seen Moose up close in Alaska. They are prehistoric looking creatures. Very large and majestic, People have said in rutting season they can be very dangerous. Hitting one with a car would not be fun.

Hitting one without a car or a gun would be even less fun. Especially if you hit junior and mama saw who did it. I have had spicy moose meat balls and they were delicious. Just not nearly enough of them.

Attention GOP:

There are so many there, so close togather, they support a parasite called, I think, brain worm. It pretty much does what the name says.

I still don't understand what you people are going on about. This thread makes absolutely no sense.

Very little of life makes sense. Sometimes we just feel like making faces right back at it.

No charges pending for family of moose...or drivers...failure to yield or avoid an accident

not ver-e-fun-ee... I'd hate to hit something that large, even being the 8th or 9th vehicle to do so

edited for content and (yet again, spelling)

A Moose in Westchester!!!

I still don't understand what you people are going on about. This thread makes absolutely no sense.

I've seen small deer but they're antlered rats, mooses are a horse of a diffident colur.

Shocking for us folks that lived in the area.

Is anything legal in NYC? Poor moose. Here in Soutnern Arizona durring the summer months we have bears come down and dig in the trash cans for food. Never a moose.

Don't have to worry about spotting a moose in Arizona unless it's a moose lizard...ferocious.

I saw a few in 95 when I visited my brother in Anchorage,Ak but they're common up there.

I just saw a stuffed moose in the Bass Pro store in Cinn, OH yesterday. It is unbelieveably HUGE! The shoulder had to be close to 7' high.

The ammo prices there gave me a headache though.
