I have been very pleased with my Taurus 327 with the 2" barrel. Nice gun, but when I saw they made a 3' version, I thought I might like one just as a plinking gun, maybe with just 32 Smith and Wesson Long, which I've started to reload, so I picked this one up yesterday. I haven't shot it yet, probably won't get to until the weekend but it's not too bad from the unboxing (those are dummy rounds in the cylinder). It is of course chambered for 327 Federal Magnum, but will handle 32 H&R Magnum, and 32 Smith and Wesson Long ammo. Well, 32 Short too, but I've never actually seen any of that.

Ugly just plain black finish. I'll give you that. But the trigger isn't bad at all. The hammer is factory bobbed and is DA only. It's drilled and taped for an optical sight from the factory. What Taurus calls the "T.O.R.O." model (Taurus Optical Ready Option...or something like that). The front sight is a BRIGHT orange, but has a green (triitium?) insert that glows in the dark. The front sight is replacable and there is another plain black front sight included in the box. There is also another rubber "boot" type grip in the box as well as the optical sight mount and screws. I've got one of those Ruger red dot sights, but I doubt I'll ever try it. Maybe...

I hadn't really thought about carrying it at first but it's probably not a bad choice. I've owned a number of Taurus revolvers over the years and have never had a problem with them. The 2" 327 I've got now, has about 500 rounds through it with narry a hickup. I'm looking forward to seeing if the longer barrel and bigger grips make any difference.

Nice! I also have the 2" version. I'm also not thrilled by their new ugly dark finish, but I'm not buying them for looks.

3" is a really nice barrel length. I've gotten a couple of those lately and really like them. :)
That's right. I've got a safe full of pretty Smith and Wesson's. These will have to earn their keep.

I also have the 2" Taurus 327 and have had a great experience with it. I have put that same night sight you have on the 3" on the 2" model and I like it, very visible at night.

I personally really struggled with weather or not I was gonna get the 3" toro 327, but ultimately decided to get the Ruger sp101 3" 327 model instead. The reason for that was because I picked up the Taurus 3" 905 in 9mm which has an almost identical layout as the 3" 327 Toro and I didn't have an sp101 yet.

Ultimately I think this will be a fine carry piece. This size of Taurus revolver frame/barrel carries nicely in a pocket or 4 o'clock IWB holster. The 327 and for that matter 32 h&r magnum seem to benefit significantly from the extra inch of barrel.

You really can't take anything away from the Taurus revolvers. I've heard the boogeyman of them not working...but I've yet to see one not actually work. You can't beat the cost of entry, and unless you want to spend a lot more money for a revolver with a .32 inch hole in it, the Taurus is a damned good value for the money.

FWIW, I've had a dozen or so Taurus revolvers over the years. One was a lemon. The others have ranged from excellent to adequate.

They've been making the same basic k-frame and j-frame revolvers since the early 1980's. The Taurus j-frame isn't a lot different than the Smith one, other than having a transfer bar safety.

The new dark finish was so ugly on my 9mm Taurus j-frame that I was happy to pay extra for a 327 in stainless. The triggers are typically stiff. I'm annoyed that they recently changed the the holes in the grip.

But I don't hesitate to buy one of their "established" revolvers. They're a decent tool for the price.

Taurus seems to really be stepping up their game, and with a factory now here in Georgia warranty work should be a quick turn around if needed.

Aye all, reading this thread, I'm beginning to feel better about my pawn shop find. As noted in another thread, I picked up a Taurus 605 .357 2-inch bbl, the other day. I'm still playing with it. Feels stiff on double action (I'm not used to double action) and hard single action trigger but seems to break clean when it does go. Between suggestions here at THR and other boards, I'll clean and lube it well and dry fire it a bunch as suggested. With luck, it'll loosen up some.

Checking with Taurus, its manufacturing date is June of '22, so it's pretty new. Not much wear, no flame cutting, just handling marks in the SS brushed finish. I'm guessing who ever had it learned soon enough about 357 snubbies. It ain't a Blackhawk!!!!

I intend to load mid-range 38's at first and see how it feels. I have some 125 gn golden sabres left for some 357 loads. Maybe I'll get some nice Hogue grips for it if it shoots OK. The present rubber grip seems small and leaves my pinkie wandering in the desert. A larger grip with full finger grooves would be nicer. It could become my EDC, as my 6906 is becoming uncomfortable to shoot and carry, notwithstanding its 12 rd mag. Trigger finger seems to be becoming more 'bent' as I age.

Have to say, the engineer who devised the roll pin for the grip oughta have his head examined. Maybe Taurus thought it's cheaper...?

Anyway, it's a neat little gun and will be something else for wife or kids to dispose of when I check out. Meanwhile, I'm having fun working with a new gun. Now if I can just fine some good Speer bullets for it.

Where did you get that night sight? Should look at getting some to put on mine and maybe the 905 I'm looking at getting soon.

As Cajunbass says you can get it from their site. My 905 came with one pre installed and that was part of the draw to me.

You do need a very small punch to get the pin out. I had to pick up a set of watch punches to get the right size.
