More guns does equal less crime - if they are in the right hands like in Philly

It's good that people are arming up for protection....bad that so many brainwashed people who are finally arming themselves will STILL believe hyped up fictional 'news' stories about some alleged 'racist police brutality' committed on the same violent thugs that they are scared of....and STILL cry loudly. The clueless idiots will never understand how they are being used and played with.

And I suspect we will see a dramatic drop in crime there, as word spreads through the gutter.

If so it will take awhile, because the DA's office is doing all it can to avoid prosecuting people.

I live about 5 miles outside the Philly line, in Montgomery County, PA. Every morning on the local news there's at least one story about shootings, robberies, you name it. The local Fox affiliate has actually run positive stories about legally armed residents defending themselves. Violent crime in Philly is bad and it's spread beyond the historically dangerous neighborhoods.

It was reported back in March or April that applications in Philly for a PA License to Carry a Firearm* were up something like 600% compared to one year before.

*LTCF = PA CCW permit. Of note, it's valid only for firearms, not knives or other weapons. However, under PA law, "firearms" includes short barreled rifles and short barreled shotguns. E.g., if I could conceal it, I could legally carry a Krink.

Yesterday afternoon, a stray round shattered a window on the 23rd floor of the Comcast Technology Center, the tallest building in Philly. It's located in the heart of Center City, not "the hood." Workers were told to stay home today while it's repaired and the Philly PD wraps up its investigation.

Note: The "Come and Take It" cannon of the Texas Revolution was actually smuggled under a coat.
Talk about a concealed weapon... .

This.
I have said it before, and I will say it again. Many of the people that have been acquiring arms the last 2 years are not people you want being armed. The gun control push coming is to disarm law abiding citizens, not the people that were out rioting all of 2020.

I don't think this...
More guns does equal less crime...

is being supported by the article...
As more people get guns and carry permits, Philly sees a sharp rise in homicides ruled justified

Unless Philly is different than everywhere else, changes in crime rates are not impacted one way or the other by whether or not people have guns. There are some convenient correlations, but they have always fallen apart with multi-year studies.

A justifiable shooting isn't a rise in crime rate.

There are other factors influencing violent crimes. Larry Krasner was elected Philly prosecutor in 2018 with a large contribution from Soros. Krasner was re-elected in 2021. Violent crimes have drastically increased on Krasner's watch.

"Krasner, a career criminal defense and civil rights attorney, who had sued the Philadelphia Police Department dozens of times over the decades, ran to be Philadelphia’s district attorney and received almost $1.45 million in campaign spending from George Soros in the process.

Unfortunately, Krasner is one of many elected rogue prosecutors around the country who have usurped the legislative power by refusing to prosecute large categories of crimes. By refusing to hold criminals to account, Krasner and his ilk abuse the power of their offices and harm victims and their communities as a result."

I am sure you are trying to make a point, but I don't know what it is. I never said that justifiable shootings were a crime rate. You stated that more guns does equal less crime and when you talk about "less crime" then you are talking about crime rates. But we can do away with the 'rate' word and the same holds true. More guns DO NOT EQUAL less crime. That is a fantasy.

In fact, what you circled actually indicates that more guns DO NOT EQUAL less crime. What you circled actually shows that there is a crime spike. More bad guys may be getting killed, but that isn't reducing crime as crime is spiking. In fact, there were crimes committed for every one of those times when a bad guy was killed and in some cases, multiple crimes were committed.

It is great that more people are very successfully defending themselves legally, but crime isn't less.

If a criminal figures that his potential victim is likely to be armed (which becomes a more reasonable assumption, the more guns there are in the society), one of two things will happen, depending on the criminal. Either (a) he will desist from the crime, or (b) he will escalate the violence, for example, by shooting first. So the result from more guns may be less overall crime, but more bloody crime. Less "crime" but more deaths. Which of the two would we prefer?
