The short story is that these two guys in a van get mugged at gunpoint in the People's Republic of Santa Monica and after the passenger in the van got stabbed, the driver pulls out a gun and shoots the assailant.

the kcal9 story mentions that the detective was investigating whether or not the man had a concealed carry permit (unlikely given that this is LA/Santa Monica). Does anyone know how to find out what happened to the guy??!
I tried the internet but I can't find a name or anything. I would hate for him to be getting prosecuted now without at least having a few fellow southern-californians write letters in support of him or to our media outlets.
If we aren't diligent about supporting people like this guy (assuming he's not a gang banger =) they'll keep whittling away our rights until we won't even be able to have metal knives in our kitchens...
