My cousin wants to convert a M-N and he doesn't have a computer, so he asked me to print out a how-to. I once had a link from one of you to a czech page by a guy who made one, buy the link no longer works. If someone has a working non-video how-to link I can print, I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks.

I did a thread about that in 2003

I just did it single shot.

How much did that cost you to do? Did you need the barrel and action/receiver or just barrel?

I paid $60 for a 91/30 or M44 from BIG5 on sale back then. I bought dozens of Mauser, Mosin Nagants, MAS36, and K31 surplus rifles back then.
I paid ~ $100 for a 45 cal Shilen Chrome Moly unturned 26" barrel blank from Brownells. It is heavy.
I ground a tool from High speed steel or Cobalt steel for opening up the bolt face.
I could not get that fat barrel in my biggest rotary table, so I just put a stop on the mill vise, made a cut, rotated slightly by hand and made another cut as I went around the extractor relief cuts.
What I now know about Mosin Nagant relief cuts is that they must be made to the breech after the barrel is threaded and fitted to the receiver. I have put a dozen Mosin Nagant receivers on the bench at once and they all clocked differently. Screwing just any take off Mosin Nagant barrel into just any Mosin Nagant receiver has a 10% chance of working out well.
Making extractor relief cuts on Mosin Nagants, Sav 99s, Win 1885s, etc, has caused me to really appreciated the cylindrical symmetry of a Mauser or Rem 700 breech.
If you have not rebarrelled a Mauser or Rem 700, you might not want to start out on a Mosin Nagant.

I was actually thinking of paying material and cost for you to do it. :)
