Mosin Nagants prices

someone mentioned Finnish Mosins. i just bought a Finnish Mosin in an estate sale last month. it is a 1891 model stamped 1909. the gun is in great shape, but i would like to know what the ball-park value of it is. here are some pics. i bought the gun for $125......

Izhevsk arsenal M91, Finn stamp, isn't too rare. But that one looks to be in good condition and I think you got it for a very good price. I'd say a $200 value. Actually the ones without the Finn stamp are harder to find stateside.

People act like these guns expire like milk and then get flushed down the drain. Except for the small percentage of them that may get dropped over the side of a boat, forfeited to the police and destroyed, ect., there will always be millions of them around. I doubt if they will ever become "rare". People have been swapping them for decades and will be swapping them for decades to come.

Yup, just like all those millions of Mausers and Enfields being swapped around as well.

Thing is, there is a fixed supply due to no new production. Demand grows slowly with time as existing shooters decide they want a second example, and as the population rises. That equates to rising prices.

You also have to figure that most people who have one to swap bought it because they like it and thus aren't likely to get rid of it for the price they initially paid. They are also more willing to hang onto it waiting for a higher price as compared to a gun dealer who makes their living by moving merchandise.

Those are great shooters. The Finns checked it out and approved the barrel. They also probably put a higher front sight on it and recalibrated the rear tangent from Arshins to meters. The only drawback with those is the sights are very very fine. My eyes are getting too old to cope with them, but if you have good eyesight you can get pinpoint accuracy. Simho Hayha's M28 had similar old style sights on it.

Yours also seems to have the classic Finnish dark stock treatment. They were the original black rifles ;-)

If you get to find the M 91 59 variant, grap it right away. They are quite accurate as the barrel is a cutdown . Most are not counterbored.

I've been informed by my suppliers that the next time I restock my Mosin's it will cost me $5 - $10 more a rifle.

Holy krap on a cracker .... you done GOOD. 1909 ex-dragoon in nice condition. Very very nice.
