Am thinking pretty seriously about getting one. The review on
www.gunblast.com was pretty positive. I like this rifle for the following reasons:
(1) 30-30 is a good general survival rifle for families ... good for deer and smaller animals. New ammo by Hornady also helps accuracy of 30-30. Hopefully it will work on the Mossberg - don't see why not.
(2) A lever action gun raises no eyebrows in California. I would go with AR rifle technology, but just cannot be bothered fighting with CA authorities on this stuff. If SHTF in my city, the lever action will get the job done ... I'm OK with that.
(3) These 30-30 rifles are a heck of a good deal for their price ... hard to beat.
(4) No doubt the old 336 rifles from Marlin were outstanding. But there are doubts about the new ones made after 2009 when Remington took over. Have not seen any feedback on the new 336's - but a few warnings. Am cautious.
Hopefully I will post when I get the rifle.
It's an ugly dog in the tactical version, but looks nice enough with the wood stock.
