Hi everyone~ and thanks in advance for any info or suggestions you can offer me.

Background: I have a Mossberg 500 with a Knoxx Specops stock. Recently I was praticing shooting offhand, and I realized that by holding it that way, I can slide my index finger back from its' safe resting position on the receiver in a much more natural and intuitive motion, while keeping my finger out of the trigger guard and without altering my grip... More importantly, since I prefer not to keep it chambered in the house, I can do it without disrupting my focus and attention under stress.

Here's my question: Does anyone make an accessory or a conversion kit so that I can use my right index finger to release the action lock? For any pistol-grip Mossy owners out there, shoulder yours offhand and you'll see what I mean....

Any suggestions? For that matter~ am I the only one interested in something like this? Thanks!

Small detail

Remember that if you are going to keep the gun empty and rack in a shell at the first sign of trouble, start from an uncocked gun, with the release button not needing a depressing action on your part.

Pump-n-go

Start with an empty gun, drop the hammer, then load the tube in the reverse order that you want to fire the shells. Are you ready to rock?

The mechanism is designed with the release bar to be at the left side of the trigger assembly, and would need a special linkage to have a button on the opposite side. Not impossible, since they have controls for left-foot accelerator pedal arrangements.

It seems like that would be a highly unnecessary part or modification. Like kirby said above me, the gun should simply be kept ready un-cocked. It would only be fixing a problem which doesn't exist.

am I the only one interested in something like this?
hmm, Yes, yes I would think so. :)

Yep - your gripping hand thumb will do the trick if your hands are big enough. There are no mechanical accessories that I know of that make the slide release ambidextrous. Using the Specops stock (or any pistol grip) with the 590 is a major trade off in ergonomics. A reduced LOP stock is the best bet on a Mossy for may users. YMMV.
