Took the Mossie 500 Cruiser for her second outing today, and felt like I was starting to get a feel for loading, firing, etc. One of the range officers came over, an old guy - maybe 130lbs wet, and was asking me about it. Then he asked why I wasn't holding it up and sighting down the barrel.
Turns out he really likes PGO and gave me a quick clinic in handling a cruiser config. The best position I found was front arm out, slightly bent and pulling toward me, hand on pistol grip almost below my chin but a bit to the right, arm parallel to the ground and straight out from the shoulder, pushing toward the forend. Whoa.
This actually works a whole lot better than bracing against the hip. At this point, I'm rethinking adding a shoulder stock now because I
can use this weapon exactly as I'd envisioned using it. There's just some technique to practice. As much as I enjoy the handguns, this thing leaves me laughing it's so much fun.
I moved from the "shooting gallery" point-blank area they have over to the 15 yrd patterning range and put up a target. Most of my shots were dead-on but low, hitting the dirt below the target. Plenty to work on. We'll see where we are 500 shots down the road.
Per suggestion, I added a sling so I can secure it if transition to handgun, and the side saddle increases ammo capacity but you can keep the gun trained on target while reloading. For my HD needs, this is enough SG.
