I'm looking to pick up a Mossberg Shotty and can get either the 500 in the honey wood or the 535-ATS in Black Syn. for the same price. I won't ever be shooting anything more than a 3" shell, so either gun will fit my needs. What I'm more interested in is fit and finish, quality, and durability.
I'm leaning towards the wood stock 500 as it looks better, but if the ATS is a better finished more durable gun, then it's well worth getting it over the 500.
Either way, this gun will be used as an all around generic shotgun. A little bit of trap, a duck gun when needed, etc.
If you own a 500 or an ATS, please toss in your .02
Thanks.
