Has anyone had any success removing the synthetic forend stock on a Mossberg 500a (to replace with a pistol grip forend, for example)? The conventional wisdom seems to be that it can't be done -- you just have to replace it with a 500. A guy on you-tube cracked the sythetic stock off with a hammer and chisel, apparently without damage to the tube. Any other/easier way? Thanks for any insights.

Derry.

On the synthetic stocks, it is riveted onto the tube. Also, the tube is shorter than the shotguns that use the wooden fore-end. I think you need a longer tube for aftermarket fore-ends.

Thanks, Dak0ta! Do you know where on the tube the rivets are? Perhaps if I drillled through them with a drill press the stock would come free? Thanks again for the info. Derry.
