I was looking at an adapter that puts a picatinny rail mount on a bayonet lug. It's always shown mounted on an AR-15, but I was wondering if anybody knew how well these work on the Mossberg 590A1, which uses the same bayonet lug.

Bueller? Bueller? Bueller?

Seriously, I know this is a "Duh!" question. It fits an AR lug. The 590 uses the same lug. Therefore it should fit and work just fine. I was just hoping someone would say "Oh yes, I have one of these and it mounted on my 590's lug with no problems."

Maybe I'll buy one and be the one who says it.

Did you ever try/buy this? I'm looking for a way to mount a light on a 590A1 also.

I wonder how durable it is. I can see knocking that light right off in close quarters. They do make a picatinny rail adapter that mounts right to the magazine tube... I have one on my 590 and it works nice. If you put it on the left side of the tube, you can activate your streamlight with your left thumb.

Besides.. if you put a rail on your bayonet lug, what are you going to do with your bayonet ?
Ok, so having a bayonet on a 590 might be slightly silly, but I got a side mounted ring for my light because one day I might just feel the need to mount a bayonet for my own amusement.

I am looking for a relatively non-expensive way to put a light on the 590A1 and keep the bayonet lug. Surefire have told me their Mossberg forends will NOT work with the bayonet lug intact. If go with the picatinny rail, what light would I use. What would that setup cost? I already have a Z2 and L2 but Surefire say neither will stand up to 12ga recoil.

Eh, my solution involves an old rail that actually belongs on the top of said Mossberg sawed in half and a hose clamp.

Works for me. Eventually I'll spray paint that hose clamp black to make it more tactical.

That TDI adapter is very good- on the M-16s I've used it on. I prefer it to a rail strip mounted on the hand guard. I don't see why it would not very well on the 590A1:)

Looking for Light Mount that doesn't block Bayonet Lug

Rockfile, could you elaborate please? Whose product did you use? Could you post some links to it and photos if you have any? Thanks.

Hexidismal, I agree with you. I'm only interested in a solution that allows simultaneous mounting and use of a light AND the bayonet. May not be needed often, but all it takes is just one time. Could you post some links and pics to your setup? Thanks.

I didn't catch on that the TDI product in the 1st post prevents use of the bayonet lug for a bayonet. That won't work for me. I want it all!:)

I have been in direct contact with Surefire: none of their integrated light/forend products are compatible with the bayonet lug on Mossberg 590 or 590A1 models. That's why I'm here seeking alternatives (hopefully inexpensive ones, unlike the $146 picatinny rail which doesn't even include the light). I've found a couple of options online but would like to see replies from those who have tried them.

Surefire did recommend a plain LED light instead of a bulb to withstand recoil. Anybody rigged up anything that allows use of light and bayonet simultaneously?

Can I get that pm from you too hexidismal ?:D I get my 590 in a few days and need to narrow down all my light options.

Yah that surefire rail looks ugly until you add some rail overs,
